Every spring, an arena tour rolls across the South under a name borrowed from a 1984 Little Milton record: The Blues Is Alright Tour. The ticketing sites file it under 'blues.' Don't be fooled. It's the single biggest stage Southern Soul has.

The rosters tell the story: King George, Pokey Bear, Tucka, West Love, J-Wonn, Sir Charles Jones, and a rotating cast of the genre's heaviest hitters, routing through arenas in New Orleans, Houston, Atlanta, Jackson, St. Louis, and beyond. For a music built in juke joints and casino showrooms, the package tour is what proved it could fill arenas.
